Unique Program Features
Multi-disciplinary staff
The treatment at Tara is delivered by a team of professionals representing many disciplines including nurses, physicians, psychologists, and addiction counselors. This multi-disciplinary team allows Tara to meet the specific needs of each individual.
Holistic treatment approach
The treatment program at Tara is holistic in nature, focusing on various approaches to help individuals learn the concepts of recovery while healing physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Psycho-education
Using various teaching strategies, counselors educate individuals on both the basic and advanced concepts of recovery, anger management, relationship dynamics, coping strategies, vocational skills, as well as many other important facets vital to the success of their recovery.
Group and Individual Therapy
Using various evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, trained therapists work with individuals to help them emotionally process many of the feelings involved in early recovery.
Relapse Prevention Therapy
Based on Terence Gorski’s Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT) individuals learn to identify and manage core personality and lifestyle problems that cause unnecessary pain and problems in recovery and make alcohol and/or drug use seem like a positive choice. These groups are conducted by Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialists (ACRPS).
Equine-Assisted Therapy
This form of experiential therapy uses horses as a tool to teach recovery concepts metaphorically. These exercises are conducted by Equine Growth and Learning Association (EGALA) certified instructors.
Experiential Therapy
This therapeutic modality is a dynamic learning process which focuses on team building and recovery concepts. These groups use various activities to help individuals express feelings that may not come easily in formal "talk therapy." These group exercises are taught by trained team-building facilitators.
Low client-staff ratio
Individual attention is a priority in providing quality care. The approximate ratio within our Residential Program is five individuals for every counselor. This allows our multi-disciplinary team to spend the necessary time to meet the complex needs of each individual.
Long-term care
Statistics show that the longer an individual is connected to treatment, the greater their chances of maintaining continued abstinence. The unfortunate reality is that despite this understanding, many facilities continue to cut the length of time in treatment. Tara continues to offer 30-42 days of residential care. Continued treatment, when appropriate, is provided in our Transitional Residential Program.
Unique 'Home-Like' Environment
In contrast to the typical hospital setting, the environment at Tara is closer to the accommodations within a home. Coupled with the caring and compassionate staff, many find this to be ideal for their mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. |
